Concha Espina (1877-1955) was a Spanish writer and translator. She was born in Santander, Spain, and spent most of her adult life in Madrid. She was known for her works that depicted the lives and experiences of women in contemporary Spanish society. Some of her most famous novels include "La Niña de Luzmela" (The Girl from Luzmela), "La Esfinge Maragata" (The Sphinx of Maragatería), and "La De Bringas" (Bringas's Wife).
Espina was also an accomplished translator, and translated a number of English-language works into Spanish, including works by Virginia Woolf and D.H. Lawrence. She was also active in the cultural and political movements of her time, and was a member of the Spanish Academy of Letters.
Concha Espina was recognized as one of the foremost Spanish writers of her time, and her works continue to be read and studied today.
